Flood City Brass is a band based in Johnstown, PA with players from the Johnstown, Altoona, and Northern Cambria areas. We have played nearly 500 gigs and over 80 weddings over the past 12 years.

Lead Vocalist: Tom “Hoaky” Pavic – Tom is a phenomenal vocalist and front man who will bring excitement to your party or event.  His extensive experience as an entertainer is clearly evident in his performances. He is also a member of the Johnstown Classic Rockers.  Tom can sing, swing, and scream; performing songs ranging from Van Morrison, James Brown, Frank Sinatra, KC and the Sunshine band, and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Lead Vocalist: Natalie Kurchak – Natalie adds a dimension to the band by leading up the female vocals. She has an incredible vocal style capable of singing vigorous songs of Aretha Franklin to the gentle songs of Judy Garland. Natalie is also involved in the Band of Brothers Shakespeare Company, and performs with her husband John in their classic rock band “Midnight Graffiti” and acoustic duo “Midnight Acoustic”.

Keyboards: Luis Gonzalez III – Luis is a pharmacist at Conemaugh Hospital. He can play a wide variety of styles. Luis has previously played with Ted Carter. Equipment: Roland RD600 Keyboard, Clavia Nord Electro 73, and a Yamaha Motif.

Lead Guitar, Sax and Trombone:  Randy Rutherford – Randy is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music and is a master guitar player from Altoona, PA.  He is a well rounded player and enjoys playing many different styles of music.  His equipment includes Fender and Ibanez guitars as well as Mesa, Fender, and Traynor amps.

Bass: Andy Heinze – Andy has played in many local bands such as Third Standard, Ole ‘97, and Somerhill. He also played in his high school jazz bands and orchestra. Andy also currently plays upright bass with the Laurel Strings Orchestra.  Equipment: Eden WT500 Head and D410XLT cabinet. Schecter 6 string bass, Yamaha 5 string bass.

Drums/Vocals:  John Homerski, Jr. – John is a graduate of the US Armed Forces School of Music and a 9 year veteran of the US Army Bands. As a professional musician, for most of the past 49 years, John has led and performed in many popular groups, and has shared the stage with such notables as Manhattan Transfer, Lou Christie, Jimmy Beaumont & The Skyliners, and Little Anthony.  TAMA StarClassic Performer Birch/Bubinga 6-Piece. Lead Trumpet/Flugelhorn: Dan Perich – Dan is a trumpet player and singer. He is the cantor of his Church and is also the band leader and trumpet player of the Swing City Band. Equipment: Yamaha Trumpet, King Flugelhorn.

Sax/Flute: Jen Shuty – Jen is a music major from IUP with a BA and MA degrees.  She has played with the band 10,000 Maniacs and is a studio set musician. Jen plays Yamaha custom saxophones.

Saxophones/Flute:  Greg Maiocco – Greg is a retired music teacher with 35 years teaching all levels of instrumental and choral music.  He earned a BS from Edinboro University and an ME from IUP.  He has worked with major acts such as 10,000 Maniacs, Carol Lawrence, and Bob Hope.  He also works with the Jazz In Your Face big band, Swing City, and as a freelance musician in a number of local bands along with studio recording work.  He has worked in a large number of professional and high school level pit orchestras.  He uses a Selmer MK VI alto saxophone, Couf Superba I tenor saxophone, Selmer S80 soprano saxophone, Vito/Yanagasawa baritone saxophone and Gemeinhardt 3SB flute.
